Bhutan Times is the first private newspaper of Bhutan started in April 2006. The paper was started as an English language weekly published on Sunday. In December 2007, the paper became a bi-weekly published on Wednesday and Sunday. The paper is now weekly again and is published on Sunday.

Bhutan Times became a public limited company in January 2007 with the promoters holding about 66 percent of the shares and the rest of the shares owned by the public.

The paper is based in Thimphu and circulated in both print and PDF copies. The paper’s website www.bhutantimes.org is currently down.
